You don't need to beat every level of every game to choose what's appropriate for your family-the info you need is right at your fingertips.

Virtually every video game sold in the U.S. and Canada carries a rating assigned by the non-profit Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). One of six rating symbols appears on the front of the package to indicate age-appropriateness, and content descriptors appear on the back to indicate elements in the game that either triggered the rating or just might be of interest or concern.

ESRB rating search widget (seen at right) - a portable mini-application that can be posted on your desktop, social networking page or shared with friends

Both of these tools give you access to ESRB rating summaries, which go beyond the ratings and content descriptors to provide a more detailed explanation of content that factored into a game's rating.
